Works comprised the partial demolition of a Thames Water Authority filtration facility and tower and the construction of a water sports centre for dinghy sailing, canoeing and dragon boat racing, including an ecological studies centre.

Construction was in the traditional brick and block work with specially formed steel "wing shaped" roof structure and fully glazed elevations to afford continuous views of the sailing area and ecology study area.
