quantity surveyor

We are searching for a Quantity Surveyor who is looking to join an established but evolving company.

 

Details of the role

Walker Construction Consultants is a multi-disciplinary chartered surveying practice based in Barnet, North London. We manage construction projects and provide cost control, technical surveying services, ensure health and safety compliance and site inspection.

We have been established for over 70 years and are proud of our longstanding history. We pride ourselves on our professional integrity and client focus.

We have recently moved to a new office and refreshed our brand, so it is an exciting time to join us.

What’s essential:

  • Experience of providing Quantity Surveying services.
  • Direct experience of working on traditional and design and build contracts.
  • Experience of delivering pre-contract and post-contract services.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and to communicate quickly and clearly.
  • Good understanding of written and spoken English as well as being a good communicator.
  • Proficient with IT, including Microsoft Office.


What would be great:

  • To be a Chartered Quantity Surveyor, MRICS or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in sectors such as housing, community, leisure, education and healthcare.
  • Ability to act as Project Manager, Employer’s Agent, Client Representative and other similar contract administration roles.
  • Ability to manage and mentor junior staff.
  • First hand BIM experience.
  • Experience of CATO or other industry specific software.

What we don’t want:

  • No ‘silo’ workers – whilst there will be times when you work independently we want you to want to be a part of our wider team.
  • No agencies. We’re only interested in talking directly with Quantity Surveyors; not their recruitment agents.

The Person:

All of the above relates to the work, but equally important to us is finding someone who will fit in with our team. We’re looking for:

  • A confident self-starter who can take ownership of projects, whilst being comfortable working with colleagues and the wider project team.
  • A flexible approach to working hours. We’re looking for someone who is committed to helping us meet deadlines.
  • Someone with impeccable attention to detail and a passion for delivering excellence in their field.
  • Someone with an infectious personality – you’d be joining a small company so the ability to get on well with others is essential.

 

Working hours: Full-time or part-time

Contract: Permanent

Salary: Negotiable based on experience
